¿WHAT IS IMPORT?

Import is the introduction of goods into the EU territory.

To import goods originating in third countries, you need to present the Import Customs Declaration, completing form DUA and to pay the import tariff applicable to the goods being imported.

¿WHAT IS EXPORT?

Export is the departure (exit) of goods from the EU territory.

The request for export authorization has to be presented through the Customs Export Declaration, by completing form DUA.

At iCustoms24 we will deal with the process on your behalf and advise you on the shipment of your goods destined for export.

¿WHAT IS DUA?

Unique Administrative Document (DUA) is the Customs document which has to be completed with details of the information related to the import/ export of goods; it is a considered a tax declaration and has to be presented by the importer/ exporter or by a representative (iCustoms24) in their name.

This document serves to formalize the import/ export operations with the Spanish Customs.

¿WHAT IS EORI?

Economic Operators Identification and Registration system (EORI)

EORI is the identification number that all operators (including importers/ exporters) should use for their Customs-related processes.

The Spanish Tax Authority (AEAT) has officially assigned the operators established in Spain, who regularly perform customs activities. The operators are able to check if they have the EORI number by visiting the AEAT website; in case they haven’t been registered officially, they will be able to request registration through the AEAT electronic office (website) or in writing to any of the Spanish Customs and Excise offices.

WHAT IS IMPORT VAT?

Imported goods are subject to VAT, which has to be paid when formalizing the Customs process.

VAT Rates:

Reduced Rate – 10%

Super-reduced Rate – 4%

WHAT IS OEA?

Authorized Economic Operator (OEA) is a person or company who conducts activities regulated by Customs legislation. It may be defined as a reliable economic operator for Customs operations who conducts your activities under procedures approved by the Customs Authority and, as a result, you may enjoy advantages in the whole of the EU.

WHAT IS A TARIFF?

Tariff is the payment or tax which is applied to the import of goods into the EU with the principle objective of protecting similar goods produced within the EU.

The payment has to be made while formalizing the Customs process for import.

WHAT IS EQUIVALENCE SURCHARGE?

Retailers who are subject to the special regime of Equivalence Surcharge must pay the corresponding VAT plus the relevant Equivalence Surcharge, separately and at the following rates:

General Rate of 21%: surcharge of 5.2%

Reduced Rate of 10%: surcharge of 1.4%

Super-reduced rate of 4%: surcharge of 0.5%

Movement Certificate EUR.1

Thanks to a large number of commercial agreements, goods originating in the EU, may receive preferential treatment by the importing country. This treatment often results in the reduction of or total exemption from tariff duties.

In order to be able to take advantage of this preferential treatment, it is necessary to receive the Movement Certificate EUR1 from the Customs office where the goods are introduced.

At iCustoms24 we can obtain the Movement Certificate EUR1 while we deal with Export Customs clearance, as long as the goods comply with the necessary requirements.

WHAT IS AN INVOICE DECLARATION?

Like the Movement Certificate EUR1, it allows you to benefit from preferential treatment of a reduction to or a total exemption from Import Tariff Duties.

There are two types of Invoice Declaration:

Through authorization from the General Customs Management Branch (upon request) For exports comprising of goods originating in the EU with a value not exceeding 6,000 Euros, any exporter will have the option of providing an Invoice Declaration according to article 116 of Regulation 2454/ 93 of the Commission.

WHAT IS AN A.TR?

Movement Certificate A.TR.

Goods in free circulation exported/ imported between the EU and Turkey, are able to move freely between the two territories without payment of Tariff duties.

The document which covers the goods benefitting from this freedom of movement and warrants this benefit to the Customs Authority of the importing country is the Movement Certificate A.TR.

POST OFFICE PROBLEMS?

Postal package retained at Customs.

It is possible that Customs retain a postal package, requiring that you formalize the necessary Import Customs clearance.

WHAT IS A CUSTOMS REPRESENTATIVE?

The Customs Representative is the legal representative of an importer or exporter to the Customs.

At iCustoms24, being a Customs Representative authorised by the Spanish Department of Customs, we are able to advise you in relation to Customs formalities and processes that you need to comply with in order to import/ export your goods.

VALUE FOR CUSTOMS PRUPOSE

The Customs Value is the value of the goods used for calculating the appropriate import duties and is determined in accordance with the EU Customs Code. The most common method of calculation is the amount paid or payable for the goods, adjusted, if necessary, in conformity with the regulation.
